This is what they said …

Opening session

Mr Gbolahan Lawal
Honourable Commissioner at Lagos State, Ministry of Housing

Lack of affordable housing affects particularly the low income citizens as they pay a disproportionate share of income for housing or live in inadequate housing that is cut-off from employment and access to health and other social services. Lagos State has always been challenged by the arduous task of providing affordable and decent accommodation for the people of the State in view of its ever growing population. This is reflected in the various housing schemes developed by different administrations over the years.

The present administration in response to the yearnings of the people and in accordance with the inclusive policy of the administration is determined to build 200,000 housing units in Lagos State alone over a very short period of time.
Mrs Olubunmi Adekoje
Director General, FOCI-Federation of Construction Industry Nigeria

It is a pleasure that I present this Goodwill Message at this precious occasion. The Federation of Construction Industry (FOCI) formally known as Federation of Building and Civil Engineering Contractors (FOBACEC) was established in 1954 as the umbrella body for Construction Companies in Nigeria. With over one hundred members, FOCI has become the reference point for sustained excellence in the construction industry. Interactions within Member Companies have resulted in the maintenance of sound practices, respect for ethics and stability.

FOCI provides a platform for its members to pursue common interests within the law, regulate the minimum conditions of service for employees in the construction industry and liaise with relevant government agencies in matters of common interest. FOCI members are building and civil contractors, sub-contractros in the construction industry, manufacturers, agents and suppliers of building materials, plants of equipment to the construction industry and those who provide services to the building and civil contractors.

We invite exhibitors who are into construction and related businesses to consider joining the Federation of Construction Industry to expand their business network. We are delighted to be one of the Institutional Partners of AfricaBuild Lagos 2017. We welcome all exhibitors and participants and wish you a successful trade fair.
Mr Martin März
Managing Director - fairtrade

Welcome to Nigeria’s leading international building and interiors exhibition. AfricaBuild Lagos brings together Nigeria’s key building and construction professionals with international manufacturers and suppliers from around the world.

We are delighted to announce a very honorable participation featuring sixty top international players from twelve countries, namely from Austria, China, Egypt, Finland, France, Germany, India, Italy, Nigeria, Spain, Turkey and the United Kingdom.
Mr Darryl Pawsey,
Regional Industry Director - ITE

Along with new government policies and an expanding middle class the Nigerian building industry sees massive investments. Currently in its infant stage the market remains relatively unsaturated by international suppliers and despite the push for the full spectrum of infrastructure, commercial, industrial and residential structures there is a lack of local machinery and equipment to meet demand, providing significant opportunities for international suppliers looking to corner the market.

It is on this background and responding to the growth, demand and vitality of Nigeria’s building and construction industry, that we at fairtrade and ITE organise AfricaBuild Lagos 2017.
